Ayurveda
Ayurveda is an ancient art and science of healthy living. It was originated in the Himalayas of Northern India more than 5,000 years ago. Literal meaning of Ayurveda is 'wisdom of life', where 'Ayu' means life and 'veda' means wisdom or knowledge.
Ayurveda in India, has been considered and practiced as a medical system, even though it does not necessarily limit itself to just medical practice. Instead, it encompasses all aspects of life, which can influence our health and well being. |

Hence, it teaches about healthy eating habits, food stuffs, cooking habits, daily routine, seasonal regimen, social life, sexual life, pregnancy care, child care, diseases, their treatments and so on. Thus, it can be considered as an art of holistic approach to healthy living.
Our aim in this site is not to teach the very basics of Ayurveda which are already explained in many sites and books. We recommend you to visit Wikipedia to know more about Ayurveda history and basics. What we would like to offer here is something different and useful for more practical purposes, that means, for improving your health and well being, not just for reading and learning! Does that sound interesting? Then you are in the right place! Welcome again... |

What is Wellness? |
- Having no detectable disease alone is not a state of well being or health. Health and wellness are like two faces of the same coin and they direct us towards almost same goal.
- Having a state of health not only physically but also mentally, emotionally, spiritually and socially is considered as wellness. It enables a person to feel contented, confident and peaceful in any given circumstance. Is this easy? Definitely not. However, trying for and achieving these goals step by step is the ultimate motto of any concept of wellness such as Ayurveda.
- Ayurveda, as mentioned earlier, teaches about physical health by diet-lifestyle-disease management etc.
- It teaches about mental health by describing mental urges, vitiating factors, interconnection of body and mind, treatment for mental illnesses, meditation and so on.
- It explains how to be balanced emotionally by proper sleep patterns, social etiquette, family life etc
- It gives importance to social well being by detailed description of daily routines, healthy social etiquette etc
Ultimately, wellness is
"the constant, conscious pursuit of living life to its fullest potential" | | |
